OF THE EARTH SCHEME

SPIRITUAL HIERARCHY

This diagram is an outline of a portion of the Hierarchy at the present moment, and only gives the outstanding Figures in connection with human evolution. A similar diagram from the standpoint of the deva evolution would be differently arranged.

The connecting lines indicate force currents.

ASHRAMS

PROBATIONERS

X

  • Focus: Turning toward the soul, striving to live a higher life.

  • Inner State: Motivated by devotion and aspiration, but still largely governed by personality desires and emotional reactions. Soul influence is sensed but not yet steady.

  • Work: Purification and discipline of body, emotions, and speech; learning meditation; beginning service to others, though often mixed with personal ambition.

  • Relation to Hierarchy: Observed by a Master but not yet consciously in an Ashram.

  • Keynote: Preparation through aspiration and self-discipline.

X

DISCIPLES

  • Focus: Establishing conscious soul contact and training for initiation.

  • Inner State: Integrated personality increasingly subordinated to the soul; growing impersonality and group awareness.

  • Work: Meditation, service, and testing under pressure; cooperation with the Plan.

  • Relation to Hierarchy: Consciously connected with a Master’s Ashram; guided and tested as part of the ashramic group.

  • Keynote: Service, training, and preparation for initiation.

INITIATES

  • Focus:  Conscious entry into the “Kingdom of Souls” through initiation.

  • Inner State: Soul-infused, free from lower dominance, increasingly identified with spiritual will.

  • Work: Cooperates consciously with the Hierarchy, channels spiritual energy, and serves planetary rather than personal purposes.

  • Relation to Hierarchy: From the Third Initiation onward, a recognized member of the Hierarchy.

  • Keynote: Realization and responsibility.

PROBATIONERS

  • A seeker who has turned consciously toward the spiritual path and the soul, but who has not yet undergone initiation.

  • Stands on “probation” — under observation by the Hierarchy, testing motives, capacity for service, and persistence.

1. Definition

  • Motivated by aspiration, devotion, and often personal enthusiasm.

  • Still largely polarized in the astral/emotional nature; easily caught in glamour, spiritual ambition, or self-concern.

  • Personality is not yet integrated, but is being disciplined and purified.

2. Characteristics

  • Cultivation of character: purity, control of speech, harmlessness, right motive.

  • Development of the capacity for meditation and mental focus.

  • First experiments in service — often imperfect, but laying the foundation for group consciousness.

3. Work

  • Watched by a Master, but not yet linked consciously with an Ashram.

  • Lives in preparation; the task is to prove reliability and fitness for training.

4. Relation to the Hierarchy

  • Aspiration and discipline — the orientation of the lower self toward the soul.
