Maitreya's Vision for the Rescue and Rehabilitation of the Earth

  • Among Maitreya's priorities for the coming age, the rescue and rehabilitation of our planet stands out as both urgent and universal. It is not presented as an isolated environmental programme, but as an essential part of humanity's spiritual evolution and the emergence of a new civilization founded upon sharing, justice, cooperation, and right human relations.
  • Maitreya teaches that the environmental crisis is not fundamentally a crisis of nature, but a crisis of human consciousness. Although the Earth possesses extraordinary powers of renewal, humanity has disturbed the natural balance of the planet through greed, competition, materialism, and the misuse of its creative intelligence. The degradation of forests, rivers, oceans, soils, ecosystems, and the atmosphere reflects this deeper imbalance in human thought, values, and behaviour.
  • For this reason, saving the planet cannot be separated from transforming humanity. The rehabilitation of the Earth begins with the rehabilitation of human consciousness, for only as humanity awakens to the principles of sharing, goodwill, stewardship, and the unity of all life can it restore harmony with the living planet and fulfill its responsibility as its intelligent guardian.

The Earth is a Sacred Trust

  • Maitreya reminds humanity that the Earth does not belong to us—it is entrusted to us. Every generation receives the planet as a sacred trust and bears the responsibility of preserving, protecting, and enriching it for those who will inherit it in the future.
  • The Earth is humanity's common home. Its atmosphere belongs to everyone, its oceans sustain everyone, its forests regulate the conditions of life for everyone, and its resources form part of a shared planetary inheritance. The well-being of every nation and every generation depends upon the wise stewardship of these common gifts.
  • As humanity awakens to this understanding, the illusion of ownership gradually gives way to the reality of guardianship. The Earth is not a possession to be exploited, but a living world to be respected, protected, and lovingly cared for through intelligent stewardship, goodwill, and cooperation with the One Life.

Humanity Already Possesses the Means

  • One of Maitreya's recurring messages is that humanity already possesses the means to solve its greatest problems. The scientific knowledge, technological ability, natural resources, financial wealth, and practical solutions already exist. Humanity has the capacity to build a just, sustainable, and peaceful world.
  • The greatest obstacle is therefore not a lack of intelligence or resources, but a lack of collective will. National interests, economic competition, and private profit have too often been placed above the welfare of humanity and the planet, preventing the wise use of the abundance already available.
  • The challenge before humanity is not primarily technical, but moral, spiritual, and humanitarian. The future depends upon awakening the will-to-good, inspiring humanity to cooperate, to share the Earth's resources wisely, and to place the common good above individual, national, and economic self-interest.

Sharing: The Foundation of Planetary Healing

  • Maitreya consistently teaches that sharing is the key that will unlock humanity's future. Without sharing there can be no justice, without justice there can be no peace, and without peace there can be no lasting solution to the environmental crisis. Sharing is therefore the foundation upon which a new civilization must be built.
  • Extreme wealth and extreme poverty are both expressions of imbalance. Where millions consume far beyond their needs, the Earth's resources are placed under increasing pressure; where billions struggle simply to survive, forests are destroyed, soils are exhausted, and ecosystems decline because people have no alternative. The rescue and rehabilitation of the planet therefore require a more equitable distribution of the Earth's abundance.
  • Sharing reduces unnecessary production, limits waste, moderates excessive consumption, and relieves pressure upon natural resources. It enables humanity to plan wisely for the future rather than merely respond to the demands of the present. For this reason, Maitreya teaches that environmental restoration and social justice are inseparable, both arising from the recognition that the Earth's resources are the common inheritance of the whole human family.

The End of Greed

  • Maitreya identifies greed as one of the greatest obstacles to humanity's future. It distorts every aspect of civilization, influencing economics, shaping politics, corrupting business, damaging relationships, driving excessive consumption, and encouraging the exploitation of nature. As long as accumulation remains the principal goal of society, the Earth and humanity will continue to bear the consequences.
  • The environmental crisis cannot be understood apart from the influence of greed. A civilization driven by the pursuit of unlimited wealth and consumption inevitably places increasing pressure upon the planet, weakening ecosystems, exhausting natural resources, and undermining the common good.
  • The antidote is neither poverty nor denial, but right relationship. Maitreya points to a way of life founded upon sufficiency rather than excess, cooperation rather than competition, and the recognition that true prosperity is measured not by individual accumulation, but by the well-being of the whole human family and the living Earth.

Science in Service of Life

  • Maitreya has always expressed confidence in humanity's scientific potential. Science has given humanity remarkable abilities, but its true purpose is not domination over nature—it is cooperation with the laws of life. Guided by wisdom, scientific discovery will enable humanity to develop cleaner sources of energy, restore damaged ecosystems, protect biodiversity, improve agriculture, reduce pollution, and work intelligently with the natural forces of the planet.
  • Maitreya also teaches that goodwill is the practical expression of love and one of the greatest transforming forces available to humanity. Goodwill changes relationships, encourages dialogue, inspires cooperation, strengthens trust, and overcomes fear. Without goodwill, even the best environmental agreements remain fragile; with goodwill, nations recognize their shared responsibility for the future of the Earth.
  • Planetary healing depends as much upon goodwill as upon technology. Science united with wisdom and knowledge guided by compassion become powerful instruments of regeneration, enabling humanity to cooperate with the Plan, serve the common good, and build a civilization founded upon sharing, justice, and stewardship of the living Earth.

Humanity as One Family

  • Maitreya repeatedly emphasizes that humanity is one family. While national boundaries may serve political and administrative purposes, they do not divide life itself. The atmosphere cannot be separated by borders, the oceans belong to all, climate systems transcend nations, and the protection of biodiversity is a shared responsibility of the whole human family.
  • The rescue and rehabilitation of the planet therefore require a new level of international cooperation. Environmental challenges cannot be solved by individual nations acting alone; shared problems demand shared solutions founded upon goodwill, mutual trust, and a recognition of humanity's common destiny.
  • The civilization of the future will increasingly be built upon the understanding that humanity rises or falls together. As nations learn to cooperate rather than compete, planetary stewardship becomes a collective responsibility, expressing the recognition that the Earth is our common home and that all life is fundamentally one.

The New Civilization

  • Maitreya speaks of a new civilization founded upon spiritual values expressed through practical living. In this emerging world, sharing replaces greed, justice replaces exploitation, cooperation replaces competition, service replaces selfishness, stewardship replaces ownership, and harmlessness replaces destruction. These values become the ethical foundation of a civilization based upon the recognition of the One Life.
  • As this new civilization unfolds, humanity will increasingly recognize that the health of civilization depends upon the health of the planet. Economics will serve humanity rather than financial power, science will serve life, government will protect the common good, education will cultivate planetary responsibility, and religion will reveal the unity and sacredness of all life.
  • In such a civilization, the rescue and rehabilitation of the planet will no longer be regarded as a separate environmental concern. Stewardship of the Earth will become an integral part of every field of human endeavour, expressing humanity's growing awareness that the well-being of people, nature, and the planet are inseparable aspects of one living whole.

A Future of Hope

  • Maitreya's message is one of hope rather than despair. Although the environmental crisis is serious, it is not beyond humanity's ability to resolve. The Earth possesses extraordinary regenerative powers, and nature responds remarkably quickly when given the opportunity to recover. Humanity has now reached the stage where it can consciously cooperate with these regenerative processes.
  • Every act of sharing, every expression of goodwill, every effort toward justice, every restoration of forests, every protection of rivers, every reduction of pollution, every advance in clean energy, and every step toward international cooperation contributes to the healing of the planet. No act of service is insignificant, for each strengthens the foundation of a healthier and more harmonious world.
  • Together, these acts of intelligent service prepare the way for a new relationship between humanity and the Earth. As people increasingly recognize the unity of all life and cooperate with the laws of nature, the rehabilitation of the planet becomes both a practical achievement and a profound step in humanity's spiritual evolution.

Humanity's Planetary Destiny

  • The rescue and rehabilitation of the planet is far more than an environmental objective; it is humanity's next great evolutionary achievement. Through this work, humanity learns to think as one family, to act as responsible custodians of the Earth, and to express the principles of sharing, justice, cooperation, and goodwill in every field of human endeavour.
  • In serving the Earth, humanity also transforms itself. It gradually discovers that service to the planet is inseparable from service to humanity, and that both are expressions of service to the One Life that sustains and unites all existence. Stewardship thus becomes both a practical responsibility and a profound step in humanity's spiritual evolution.
  • The rehabilitation of the planet is therefore not only the healing of nature, but the awakening of humanity itself. As civilization increasingly embodies right human relations, harmlessness, goodwill, and intelligent stewardship, a new humanity emerges—one that lives in conscious cooperation with the Earth and fulfills its role within the evolutionary Plan.

The Role of Good Will

  • Goodwill is the practical expression of love and one of the greatest transforming forces available to humanity. More than a noble ideal, it is a dynamic spiritual energy that can be consciously expressed in everyday life, creating the foundation for right human relations and the common good.
  • Goodwill transforms relationships by encouraging dialogue, inspiring cooperation, strengthening trust, and overcoming fear. Without goodwill, environmental agreements and international cooperation remain fragile; with goodwill, nations increasingly recognize their shared responsibility for the future of the Earth and the well-being of the whole human family.
  • Maitreya continually points to goodwill as the energy capable of transforming every field of human endeavour. Planetary healing depends as much upon goodwill as upon technology, for only when scientific progress is united with goodwill, wisdom, and sharing can humanity build a just, peaceful, and sustainable civilization in harmony with the living Earth.
